October 12, 2018 during Fire Prevention Week. Many fire departments will have a representative at a local McDonald’s restaurant for “Coffee with a Firefighter” day.
What is it?
• “Coffee with a Firefighter” day is a chance for fire departments to meet with members of the community at a local McDonald’s restaurant to discuss fire safety concerns, issues, or questions the public may have.
• Fire departments have been encouraged to have one or more members of the public education/fire prevention team on site to answer specific questions about fire safety.
• Where possible, fire departments have been encouraged to book at least one truck with firefighters for the duration of the event. The truck will be parked in a safe location outside the McDonald’s restaurant, assigned with a firefighter to remain with the truck to conduct truck tours.
• For departments that do not have a McDonald’s in their community, they have been encouraged to partner with a neighbouring municipality that does have a McDonald’s restaurant to hold a joint “Coffee with a Firefighter” day.
